南米・エクアドルのジャングルで、麻薬を密輸するために造られた潜水艦が見つかり、押収された。

　この潜水艦は全長３０メートル、５〜６人乗りで、１０トンの積載能力があるという。また、上空からの熱探知を逃れる空調システムなども備え、アメリカへ麻薬を運ぶために造られたとみられている。

　アメリカや南米の捜査当局はここ数年、潜水艦を使った麻薬密輸への警戒を強めていて、麻薬運搬用の潜水艦が押収されるのは初めて。エクアドル当局は、関係者１人を逮捕し、背後にコロンビアの麻薬組織がかかわっているとみて捜査している。
